The Centro Studi sul Federalismo (CSF) e the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) have recently sponsored a new study - following the previous one The Costs of non-Europe in the Defence Field - on the role of European institutions in the EU’s common defence policy.
The study was authored and presented by Alessandro Marrone and Alessandro Ungaro in two closed-door seminars—respectively on July 2 in Rome and on November 3 in Turin—including experts and practitioners from Italian and EU institutions, the defence industry, academia and several think tanks.
Discussion and feedback from the two seminars have resulted in a final version of the study published with the title Actors in the European Defence Policy Area: Roles and Developments. With this report CSF and IAI aim to contribute to the on-going debate on the development of the EU’s foreign, security and defence policy—one crucial step of which will be the June 2015 European Council on defence.
